RELEASING YOUR FAITH

In Matthew 17, we learn that in the absence of Jesus and his core three disciples, a man brought his son who was an epileptic to the other nine disciples to be cured. Unfortunately, they could not cure the boy until Jesus came in and healed him. After this encounter, his disciples came to Him privately and asked why they could not cure the boy. He responded to their question by providing them four major reasons for their failure: their lack of prayer; lack of fasting; lack of faith and lack of positive confessions.
Whilst telling His disciples the reasons why they failed to heal the boy, He made a statement that I want us to concentrate on. He said: “because of your unbelief…if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:20-21; NKJV).
Friends, prayer, fasting, faith and positive confession are a powerful combination, the possession of which will make nothing impossible for the believer. If you want to access the supernatural and tap into the goodies of the kingdom of God; if you want the goodies of total wellbeing; if you want to experience heaven on earth in all areas of your life: prayer, fasting, faith and positive confession are an indispensable combination to bring you that experience. Find a man or a woman who loves to pray, loves to fast, possesses faith and speaks positively and you have an individual who is ready to experience the supernatural.
According to Jesus nothing will be impossible for the person who is prayerful, loves to fast, possesses faith and speaks the Word. This means that if some things seem impossible in your life, you will have to check your prayer, fasting, faith and confession levels. The lower the level of prayer, fasting, faith and positive confessions the higher the impossibility level and vice versa.
Throughout Scripture, mounts and mountains are imbued and soaked with religious significance and symbolism. Mountains in Scripture have both a positive significance and negative connotation. In the context Jesus used the word ‘mountain,’ He was not referring to any of the positive symbolisms but the negative. In other words, Jesus is saying that “if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain; this obstacle in front of you; this difficulty; this stumbling block; this hurdle; this impediment; move from here to there and it will move. Mountains in a negative sense symbolize obstacles, the difficult paths of life, problems, stumbling blocks, hurdles, impediments, etc.
Notice Jesus said “you will say to this mountain.” He and His three core disciples just came down from the top of a mountain. So He was referring to a particular mountain. Though none of the authors of the gospels indicate the name of the mount on which He was transfigured, many Bible Scholars believe it was Mount Hermon. They believe it was Mount Hermon because it is the highest and largest mountain that is closest to Caesarea Philippi. It was right from Caesarea Philippi that they went to the mount of transfiguration.
So if the mountain is Mount Hermon the highest, largest and closest to Caesarea Philippi, and Jesus says you can speak to it to move and it will, it implies that it doesn’t matter the enormousness and hugeness of the mountain in front of you. If you will have faith and release your faith, God is able to come through for you to move every obstacle, change the story of every problem and rearrange your life for you. According to Psalm 97:5; “the mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord.” In Isaiah 40:4-5, we read that: “every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth; the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken” (NKJV).
