FAITH: KEY TO THE SUPERNATURAL

For the past three weeks or so I have been discussing The Keys To The Supernatural with you. So far we have looked at prayer and fasting as imminent keys to accessing the supernatural and our discussion thus far brings us to faith. During the supernatural encounter in Caesarea Philippi, Jesus promised to give “the keys to the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 16:19; NKJV). The first key He gave and taught on after this promise was prayer, then fasting and then faith.
Anyone who wants to access the kingdom of heaven or the supernatural realm must possess and demonstrate faith. Faith permeates every aspect of our Christian walk. The whole journey of Christianity is based on faith. Salvation is based on faith. So in Ephesians 2:8, Paul writes that; “for by grace are ye saved through faith” (KJV). If it’s healing you need, you ought to possess and demonstrate faith before healing manifests in your body. So when Jesus heals people, He often tells them “your faith made you whole.” Whatever blessing you need from God requires faith before it manifests in your life.
The New Testament word faith, translated in the Greek lingo is pistis, and pistis simply means to be persuaded to the extent you profess your persuasion till you possess what you’re persuaded of. In other words, faith is persuasion that is accompanied by profession leading to possession. The three keywords in the definition are persuasion, profession and possession. Due to time constraint, I would want us to concentrate on the second keyword, which is profession. By profession I don’t mean your occupation or line of work, but what you profess, what you say, what you affirm, and what you confess with your mouth. In Hebrews 10:23, the Bible admonishes us to “hold fast to the profession of our faith without wavering” (KJV).
Faith is no faith until it is professed. Hebrews 11:3 tells us that “through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the words God spoke, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (KJV). This means that God used words to speak the world into existence. Psalm 33:9 says “when He spoke, the world began. It appeared at His command” (NLT) Hebrews 1:3 also reveals that God “upholds everything together by what He says” (TM). If God formed the world by the words He spoke, similarly, we also form a world by the words we speak. If you speak negative words, you create a negative world around you and if you speak positive words, you create a positive world around you.
Notice that from Hebrews 11:3, we do not only learn that the world was formed by God’s words but also the things which are seen were made from the things which are not seen. In other words, the natural originated from the spiritual realm. So to bring what is in the spiritual realm to the natural realm requires faith, and faith is always expressed in words. In Genesis 1:3 for instance, when God said “let there be light,” He was teaching us that we can use faith-words to bring what is in the spiritual realm to the natural realm. Light was already in the realm of the spirit and He spoke it into the natural. This is what Hebrews 11:3 means by things that are seen came from the unseen. In other words, God spoke the material from the immaterial and the tangible from the intangible.
Once again, I want to establish that every blessing you need is already in the spiritual realm. You have to speak your blessings out of the realm of the spirit to the realm of the natural. Remember, faith is no faith until it is professed. If you are believing God to do something for you: your words, confessions and professions have to line up with your persuasion. There ought to always be a correlation between persuasion and profession.
