God the Creator and the Controller of the heavens and the earth, God the Beginning and the End, God the Source of all that was, that is, and that is to come—the same God in all His power and in all His majesty, stops and listens when you pray. Prayer is your most effective means of communication with God, and it is humanity’s way of giving divinity the permission to step down from eternity into time and space to interfere with the affairs of humanity. This means that if you fail to pray—you fail to give God the permission to step into your life to help you.
There are four basic procedures that you can follow to getting your prayers answered. With everything you want God to do for you, following these steps will guarantee having what you want. In Mark 11:24, Jesus shows how we can get our prayers answered. This is what He says: “therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (KJV). Over here Jesus lays down four basic steps that we need to follow to getting our prayers answered, and the steps are desire, prayer, believe and receive. Note that Jesus said “what things soever ye desire.” This means anything at all you want. Whether it’s a wife, a husband, a child, a financial breakthrough, joy, peace or whatsoever, when you pray you must believe that you have it, and you will have it.
The first and foremost step to getting your prayers answered is having a desire. Before you pray about a thing, you must desire to have that thing. Whatever you don’t desire, you don’t pray for, and you even don’t think about it. Before you pray for something, you must ensure you desire for it. Before you pray for a breakthrough, you must ensure you truly desire or crave for that miracle. After you’ve established a desire for what you want, you must pray about what you desire.
So the second step to getting your prayer answered is to pray about what you desire. In other words, after you’ve established a desire that this is what you want, you must pray about the desire. According to Proverbs 13:4, “the soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing…” That is, the lazy man desires but does not act on his desire. Similarly, you must act on your desire by praying about it for God to help you get your desire met. Taking your desire into prayer gives God the license and the authorization to interfere with the affairs of your life to help you. God can’t help you until you ask Him to do so. So in Jeremiah 33:3, He said: “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (NKJV).
Thirdly, you must believe that whatever you desire which you prayed about is granted. During this stage you don’t have to even doubt slightly that your request will not be granted. That’s why in Mark 11:23, Jesus said: “For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith” (KJV). Do you see that? God doesn’t want you doubting because doubt negates your request from being granted. Faith can’t operate where there is doubt. Have faith that God hears you when you pray.
Lastly, after you’ve established a desire, prayed about the desire and applied your faith, you must receive the results of your desire. To receive the results of your desire means to experience the reality and manifestation of what you initially desired. God is willing and ready to help you, but you must take your desire up in prayer. This New Year, God wants to show you His glory, and I urge you to desire the glory in prayer.
