Welcome to the year 2009, which for us at ICGC is the year of the Supernatural. It’s such a blessing to communicate with you this New Year considering the new and marvelous things God has prepared for us. According to 1 Corinthians 2:9, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him”. This suggests that there are marvelous and wonderful things He has prepared for us and it’s my prayer that all He has planned for you comes to pass.
A brand new year lies open before all of us. For us as a church, the theme we’re traveling with in 2009 is “supernatural.” Hence, we are trusting God to characterize our lives throughout the year with supernatural occurrences and happenings. With renewed hope and strength, I have faith that 2009 would be associated with divine events that are completely inexplicable, incomprehensible and unfathomable. In Acts chapter 3, we read that Peter and John were headed to the temple to pray at the ninth hour, which according to the text was the ninth hour. This is how the author puts it: “Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.”
Notice that at this ninth hour whilst at the gate of the temple called “Beautiful” they came into contact with a cripple and through the supernatural power of God, the man was healed. Friend, just as the supernatural was released in the ministry of Peter and John at the ninth hour; just as the cripple was healed at the ninth hour, I believe 2009 is your ninth hour. The ninth hour is an hour when the super of God is released on your natural to create the super+natural=supernatural. In 2009, may the super of God be released on your natural to create the supernatural for the power of God to be manifested in your life.
As a Bible student, I know that anytime the supernatural is activated in the life of a person, the person’s life is flooded with divine occurrences. Like the switch is flipped on to activate the light in a dark room, may the supernatural be activated in your life. In your home; in your marriage; in your profession; on your job—may you experience the supernatural power of God. When the super of God was released on Abraham’s natural and on Sarah’s natural, the supernatural was created to make a 99year old man potent and a 89 year old woman fruitful. Our God is a supernatural God. He can make what looks impossible to man to be possible. He has power to heal, to save, to deliver, to calm the raging sea, to bless and to prosper you. May you experience Him in great measure in 2009.
Although, with hope and anticipation we’re projecting the New Year to be the year of the Supernatural, you must realize that there is a role to play to activate the supernatural in your life. Notice that Peter and John were entering the temple at the ninth hour solely to go and pray. That suggests that prayer is a potent force that activates the supernatural in your life. If you want His supernatural power to be at work in your life, you will have to pray like you have never and seek His face like you have never done before.
Purpose in your heart that 2009 will be your ninth hour and as I established earlier, the ninth hour is characterized with the supernatural and prayer. Prayer is the thrust that sparks the supernatural. As you make your New Year Resolution, I urge you to resolve to improve on your prayer life. Prayer triggers and sets off the supernatural in your life. Since, you’re desirous of the supernatural, why not make a drastic improvement in your prayer life. Just a food for thought. How could the cripple be stationed by the Beautiful Gate, yet not experience the beautiful life? It took prayer to change his life and condition and I believe it will take prayer for your life to be bettered. May your life be affected with His supernatural power to experience the new life as you commit to a new life of prayer.
